Okay, I had something happen that I need feedback on. Even though I have been at this for seven years, I haven't had a bride ask for mini calla lilies before last summer. So after calling a wholesaler, I gave a quote to her for her bouquet which would include white mini calla lilies. I thought that the price seemed pretty reasonable. Then a different bride asked for a quote and the picture that she had include mini calla in the "flame" variety. The price the wholesaler gave me on those was high. So at that point I figured that it was the color variety, you know, must be less common. Well, after I got the ballpark figure from that wholesaler, I received some flowers for a wedding and had problems with them so I decided to try a different wholesaler this time. So when I ordered, I made a stupid mistake and did not ask what the cost would be on the mini callas. I figured that they would be in the same ball park ,more or less. Whoa, was I wrong!! The ten-pack was $32.00 wholesale! The other price I was quoted was nowhere near that. So, aside from not asking the price when I placed the order, what did I do wrong? Is there some varieties that are more expensive than others? Was I possibly given the wrong price originally for the whites? I just want to make sure that it doesn't happen again so would love it if someone more experienced would shed some light on the subject of mini callas.
