i read your alliance announcement 5 or 6 times but i guess i am missing something. maybe you can help me understand...

extra touch did have a chance to make a difference but burnt through the $14 million with nothing to show for it. how can e.t. succeed now when it could not succeed with $14 million in the bank. its easy to blame jim jordan for this disaster but there was a group of paid florists on the e.t. board who were equally responsible. jim preached against the evils of rebates and then starting paying rebates. i understood that e.t. got rid of its employees when all or most of teh money was gone. please tell us who owns e.t. today...

and floralsource international. isn’t john carruthers the same person who ran redbook and national flora...the national yellow page order gatherer. under john redbook signed up any order gatherer they could. and i believe national flora used the redbook system to send their orders. are we to believe that florasource has suddenly seen the light and would not sign up any order gatherers or accept their orders...

and mas. your announcement says abner maldinado is part of mas. you mentioned that he was founder of att express, now rti. there are shops today that are still affected by the merger of att and redbook adn then the merger of redbook and teleflora. how can i be sure if i buy mas today that i will not be using “fti” later. history seems to repeat itself in this business...

your website claims you have over 2,500 members and you plan to have more than 5,000 members by mid 2005 and possibly 10,000 by end of 2005. my question is this. all of the alliance partners have been around for years. if you all together have accumulated only 2,000 members what makes you think your membership is going to explode to possibly 10,000 in a year. you all claim to be operating the same independent businesses as before. why will the membership suddenly increase 400% to 500%. i'm sorry but this looks like more of the same that has got us where we are today...

like every one else i see we are in trouble. every one is scrambling for answers. some of us feel a buying group is the answer. but is the cost of our product really the problem. what if we could match walmarts or lowes wholesale cost of $5 on an item. they might sell the item for $5.50 but we would want to sell if for $15 to $25. even buying the item for half of their cost we would try to sell it for $7.50 to $12.50. do we really believe we can buy inventory at one third to one fifth of walmarts cost so we can compete against their retail prices with our normal markups...

some guys started a fee-based message board or “nation” where for a fee they were going to provide information that would help real florists. but its hard to follow cheerleaders whose cheers change like the wind depending on where the paychecks are coming from or not coming from...

the answer to many of our problems is right under our noses. order gatherers can’t exist if we don’t fill their orders. they can’t adverstise against us if we stop giving them the millions to use against us. its that simple...

when the titanic sunk they say it created a huge suction that pulled down everything around it. we all need to be careful where we tie up our dinghies...
